Rai was born on March 24, 1977.
From a very young age, the desire to write songs and play them to an audience grew in him. In kindergarten he played air guitar with his friend to "You're In The Army Now" by Bolland Bolland.
Prof. Rainer Kotzian has been President of the University of Music since October 1, 2021. He previously served as Vice President from 2017 to 2021. In 2010 he was appointed professor for elemental music education at the Nuremberg University of Music, and from 2011 to 2017 he also held the position of dean of studies. He works as an author, editor and producer of numerous music education print and audio publications and is a board member of the Carl Orff Foundation. In addition, he volunteers in several foundations for the promotion of young artists.
Rainer studied music and dance education at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Further studies in jazz guitar and songwriting complete his profile. From 1998 to 2008 he worked as a teacher at the music school in Teisendorf, in 2001 he began teaching at the Orff Institute of the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, which he carried out alongside his freelance work as a jazz and rock/pop musician (guitar, trumpet) until 2010. In 2010 he received another teaching position at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz. Kotzian teaches nationally and internationally as a recognized representative and specialist of the Orff-Schulwerk.
